Modern Warfare 3: Collection #1 release

Today, Activision Publishing released the highly anticipated content add-on to the Call of Duty title Modern Warfare 3. In this first person shooter, the player controls their soldier through battlefields trying to complete various objectives while trying to stay alive.

The multiplayer facet of the game is where players invest most of their gameplay time. In turn, Activision Publishing keeps players interested by releasing these content packs. In the past, these packs have just included maps. But for the first time, Collection #1 offers more.

CEO of Activision Publishing, Eric Hirshberg stated, “The Call of Duty MW3 Content Collection #1 is the biggest DLC pack ever for Call of Duty. We’re serious about delivering the best value to our fans and just as we promised last year, it’s not just maps anymore. With six pieces of playable content, that’s more content and bigger variety than we’ve ever been able to include before in a Call of Duty DLC for the same price.”

In addition to the four maps --Liberation, Piazza, Overwatch and Black Box--two special ops missions, Black Ice and Negotiator, will be included. These special ops missions are campaign-esque where the players fight together against the game’s artificial intelligence aka AI.

Collection #1 is available first on the Xbox LIVE Marketplace on the Xbox 360. PS3 and PC gamers will have to wait for their chance to download the new content due to exclusive agreements between Activision Publishing and Microsoft. The content pack will cost customers $14.99 or 1,200 Microsoft points in the Marketplace.

To promote the release of the largest content pack to date, Activision will be hosting a match between Ahmad Bradshaw of the Super Bowl Champion New York Giants and Rob Gronkowski of the New England Patroits. The two stars will act as captains of their team of developers, celebrities and Modern Warfare 3 fans. The gameplay event will be recorded and posted on Modern Warfare 3’s facebook page.
